Baghdad Muesem
To retain Baghdad's history,
BM has built Baghdad's museum to register
honestly and objectively some era of the
capital's history in order that the current and
future offspring could see how their ancestors
lived, what their jobs were, how the families
practiced their customs and what their domestic
devices were.
In 1968, BM has founded the
folklore and local museum that contains most of
the Baghdadi life's characteristics. A work team
was instructed to make some dummies distributed
on 45 scenes in the museum represent artisans of
Baghdad.
After all work was done,
Baghdad museum was opened on (1st, Jan, 1970) in
its current location at Tigris river bank near
al Mustansiyria school. Many of the various
social levels paid attention to this museum and
many famous political figures and delegations
visited it.
In 1985, it has been
rehabilitated and the Baghdadi bazaar and lane
which contained 39 new scenes were erected
including 107 new figures did not exist before.
Now, it contains (385) dummies distributed on 77
scenes with all the accessories, which the scene
needs. The existing building of Baghdad's museum
is one the ancient buildings as it was erected
in Ottoman's era in 1869.
